Vinted Fees 2026: What It Really Takes and How to Work Out Your Net Price

If you sell on Vinted, sooner or later you've asked yourself: how much does Vinted take on every sale? The answer surprises a lot of people: for private sellers, zero. But stopping there would be a mistake, because the costs that eat into your real margin do exist — they just aren't called “fees”. In this guide we look at exactly how it works in 2026, with numbers and practical examples for resellers.

Seller fees on Vinted: what you really pay

For private sellers Vinted charges no selling fee at all: you keep 100% of the price you listed the item at. No percentage withheld, no listing costs. That's why Vinted has become the go-to platform for Italian resellers compared to eBay or Depop, where seller fees reach 10-13%.

So how does the platform fund itself? Through Buyer Protection, paid by the buyer: a fixed fee of €0.70 + 5% of the item price, added automatically at checkout.

Why Buyer Protection still affects you

“The buyer pays it, so it's not my problem” — wrong. When a buyer looks at your item priced at €20, in their head the real price is €21.70 + shipping. That's the total they compare against other listings. In practice, Buyer Protection pushes down the prices you can actually sell at: it's an indirect fee on your margin.

Concrete example on a vintage sweatshirt:

  • Listing price: €22
  • Buyer Protection: €0.70 + 5% = €1.80
  • Shipping (paid by the buyer): ~€2.90
  • Total as seen by the buyer: ~€26.70 — that's the number you're competing against
  • You receive: the full €22

Buyer Protection is also the mechanism the buyer uses to dispute an order: we've explained separately how returns on Vinted work for the seller, what changes with a Pro account and what happens to your money during a dispute.

The real costs of a reseller on Vinted in 2026

The costs that erode your margin aren't fees, but these four:

  • Paid visibility. “Bump” on individual items and “Wardrobe Spotlight” are the only real “Vinted cost” for anyone selling consistently. Use them surgically: they make sense on high-margin items, not across the board.
  • Cost of buying stock. The price you pay for the items you resell is the line that decides your ROI. Buying vintage by the kilo with a KiloBox brings the cost per item down to a few euros and makes selling at competitive prices sustainable too.
  • Operating time. Photos, descriptions, messages, packaging. It's not a Vinted fee, but it's the cost beginners underestimate the most.
  • Taxes above the threshold. Since 2024, DAC7 requires Vinted to report to the Italian tax authority (Agenzia delle Entrate) anyone exceeding 30 sales or €2,000 a year. If you buy to resell systematically, you're a commercial activity: we cover it in the complete guide to VAT number (Partita IVA) and DAC7.

Vinted Pro: what changes for fees

With Vinted Pro (the programme for professional sellers, rolling out fully in Italy too) the logic stays similar: the buyer pays a “Pro Buyer Protection” and the professional seller pays no listing fees. The real difference is tax-related and operational: invoicing, higher volumes, a “Professional seller” badge. If you already have a VAT number, it's the natural next step.

How to calculate your net price: the reseller formula

For every item, think like this:

  • Real margin = selling price − cost of the item − bump share − tax share (if above the threshold)
  • Set your selling price with the buyer's checkout total in mind (price + 5% + €0.70 + shipping), not just your listing
  • Under €10, Buyer Protection weighs proportionally more (on a €5 item it's almost 20% of the total): items in this range are better sold in bundles

For price ranges by category and brand, we have a dedicated guide: how to price vintage on Vinted in 2026.

In short

  • Private seller: €0 in fees, you keep 100% of the listing price
  • Buyer: pays €0.70 + 5% Buyer Protection — factor it in when you price
  • The real costs: stock, paid visibility, time, taxes above the DAC7 threshold (30 sales / €2,000)
  • Margin is built upstream: ROI depends on the price you buy at, more than on the price you sell at

Note: Buyer Protection amounts and rules are those published by Vinted in June 2026 and may change; always check the current values at checkout or in the Vinted help centre.
